Some 14 students of the Wa Secondary Technical High School have been hospitalised after two separate fire incidents at the school.
The students are reported to have suffered varying degrees of trauma after the fire guttered their dormitory.
13 of the students are at the Wa municipal hospital while another is receiving treatment at the Upper West region hospital.
The Upper West regional Director of Education, Abdul-Razak Korah disclosed that management has decided to temporarily close down the school to allow for a thorough investigation into the two infernos that erupted on the evenings of Sunday and Monday.
He added that the Ghana Education office will bear the cost of transporting the students to their various homes.
The Upper West Regional Commander of the Ghana National Service, ACFO 1 Henry Asiedu said a preliminary investigation into the fires indicates that they were a result of some illegal connections at the two dormitory blocks.
Meanwhile, the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih visited the school to access the extent of damage caused by the fire.
