Judges

Information reaching 3news.com indicate that some 150 judges in Ghana have threatened to strike next week over salary anomalies which they have been crying over for months.

The judges who practice at the lower court level said they will not turn up for work from next week if their demand for a 10% salary increase is not implemented.

After earlier discussions with government, a letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah approved the 10% increment for the judges but months after the letter was released, the increment has not taken effect.

The Finance Ministry is being accused of not adhering to the directive from the Chief of Staff and according to some of the judges, no word has been heard from the ministry either.

Based on the above, they would strike next week if nothing concrete is heard from government or the finance ministry.

If the threat by the judges is carried through, the district and magistrate courts would be most affected.
