The maiden edition of the Baking Festival by MI Prime Entertainment kicked off on Saturday, 22nd October, 2016 at the Palace Super Stores at Spintex in Accra.
The main aim of this event as explained by the organizers is to bring a platform that can help the development of the baking industry.
It is also to create a link where individual groups can connect for business purposes.
The first Baking Festival saw the participation of various companies including Flour Mills of Ghana Limited (FMGL), Oriental Patisserie, Toutle Monde, Hotel Casarere and Cake Boss.
Patrons of the event treated themselves to lots of free baked foods.
There was a bouncy castle for kids to have fun during the programme. Books on healthy living were also on sale at the event.
A cooking competition was organised between participating bakers.
Eyram Hiagbe and David Hiagbe participated in the kiddie chef competition and Chef Francais Opoku and Chef Peter Danso took part in the main cooking competition.
Judges Duncan Wales from South Africa and Charles Ansah, a nutritionist, looked out for food hygiene, food preparation and many more.
The program ended successfully with Tilapia Cake being named the winning dish at the end of the competition.
Event organiser Papa Yaw popularly known as PY said he intends in the next edition to extend the baking festival to span three days so it can be more effective for businesses and beneficial to the consumer.
