3FM’s Johnnie Hughes wins global poetry award

Johnnie Hughes3FM’s Community Connect and Election Zone host, Johnnie Hughes, has received the Universal Inspirational Poet Award at a special Pentasi ‘B’ World Poetry Festival held over the weekend at the Dubois Center in Accra.

The award, which comes with a large format painting, a trophy and an automatic invitation to the next festival in Hollywood, was presented by Minister of State at the Presidency, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo and Dr. Penpen Bugtong Takipsilim (Father of visual poetry).

Johnnie Hughes received the highest Pentasi ‘B’ honour for peace together with international greats such as: Prof. Santosh Bakaya (India), Benjamin Nii Tetteh Oku (Ghana), Prof. Muhammad Shanazar (Pakistan), Kolade Freedom (Nigeria), Ibrahim Honjo (Canada), Luz-Maria López (Puerto Rico), Benjamin Tetteh Oku (Ghana), Prof. George Onsy (Egypt), Timileyin Gabriel (Nigeria), Prof. Rajendra Padhi (India), Monsif Beroual (Morroco), Dr. Armeli Quezon (USA) and Nene Tetteh Adusu (Ghana).

Johnnie Hughes.jpg2The Broadcaster said with smiles: “I am excited and delighted that my words on the pages and my actions on the stage have projected my image and that of Ghana. This award, will balance the poetry equation of Africa.”

The Pentasi ‘B’ World Poetry Friendship Festival, the first of its kind in Africa, was held from the 17th — 22nd May, 2016

Organizers of the event noted that the festival will impact the need for peace before, during and after election 2016, and will balance the poetry equation in Ghana.

The week-long event was themed: Sustenance of our Peace; The Role of The Arts’. Activities earmarked for the week-long celebration include.
