So far, 10 out of the 200 promised community day SHSs have been completed

The next government of President John Dramani Mahama would convert 30 per cent of the 200 promised community day senior high schools into technical and vocational schools.

This is accordance to the commitment by his government to technical and vocational education.

These were announced by Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Minister of Communications, on Saturday, September 17 during the 2016 manifesto launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Sunyani, Brong Ahafo Region.

Dr Omane Boamah expressed confidence that President John Dramani Mahama will be reelected after the December 7 elections based on the decision by all Ghanaians to choose “unity, progress and humility”.

According to him, the December 7 elections will be a choice between unity and division; between progress and retrogression; and between humility and arrogance.

“We together with the generality of Ghanaians have decided to choose unity, to choose progress and to choose humility. That is why we are saying JM toaso.”

‘200-60-10 formula’

Dr Omane Boamah stressed that the promise to construct all 200 community day senior high schools will be fulfilled by 2021, when President Mahama would have ended his second and final term.

As at now, 10 have been commissioned while 123 are under construction.

Government functionaries have promised 70 completed by the end of this year.

The Communications Minister said the NDC has crafted a formula of ‘200-60-10’, which will see 60 of the 200 community day SHS being converted into technical and vocational schools while one in each of the 10 regions will be made centers of excellence for sports.

He said this will go hand-in-hand with the progress being made in the health sector, which will see the recruitment of at least 12,000 nurses.
