A sixty year old man has been arrested by the Asesewa Police Command for duping forty victims.

The man is said to have forged letter heads of institutions to lure forty victims under the pretext of acquiring visas for them.

The Asesewa Police Command found out that the suspect is a retired teacher and a self-acclaimed peer educator for the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) under several names including Mark Kwadzo Dzamasi.

In December, 2015, he presented forged introductory letters of the University of Ghana, Legon, PPAG and the French Embassy to the Upper Manya District Assembly and the Upper Manya Education Directorate as a candidate offering a doctorate degree in systematic counselling and needed assistance for his research work in the District.

He was introduced to churches where he trained 40 in counselling techniques and data collection for his supposed thesis.

Police reports revealed that during the training he lied to 40 victims that the French Embassy and PPAG were sponsoring them to South Africa hence the need for them to get visa.

He took a total of GH¢25,000 to secure biometric visas for them and went into hiding afterwards.

The Dzolokpuita Police in the Volta Region helped in arresting him from his hideout, where he had also begun operating with the forged letter head of Lordina Mahama Foundation.

The Asesewa Police Commander, Superintendent Stephen Kofi Ahiatafu, wants the public to be more vigilant not to fall prey to such trickster and asked institutions to crosscheck introductory letters received.

The suspect is currently on remand at the Asesewa Police Station.

The Police is seeking the public support to arrest his accomplices who are on the run.
