A Ghanaian Hajj pilgrim, whose name has been given as Alhaji Alhassan Kuku, has died in Saudi Arabia.
He died on Tuesday, September 13 after collapsing suddenly in the Ghana camp in Mina, a statement from the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) said.
Alhaji Kuku, 70, is said to be part of the Ghanaian pilgrims who were in Arafah on Monday for special Hajj prayers for peaceful polls in Ghana.
He returned safely to the Ghana camp in Mina but was pronounced dead upon arrival at the camp clinic, having collapsed.
The cause of death is not yet known.
“He collapsed suddenly and unfortunately eye witness did not rush him to the clinic on time,” said Dr Abdul Samad Suleman, the head of the Ghana Medical Team.
“When we saw him, he had cold extremities, no cardiopulmonary activities and was clinically dead.”
The deceased has since been buried in Saudi Arabia. His family back home has been informed of the sad incident.
