Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) has opened a new state of the art branch at Sakaman, in Accra, to offer rich assortment of financial products and services to the bank’s existing and potential clients in the catchment area.
Located on the Sakaman-Dansoman High Street (General Ankrah High Street) near the Allied Oil Filling Station, the new branch expands the UMB branch network to 29 across the country.
“Our new Sakaman branch was designed to enhance the experience of our customers and I am very confident that our presence in Sakaman/Dansoman will enrich the community and also add value to businesses in the area,” Board Chairperson of UMB, Mrs. Elizabeth Zormelo, said.
She said the Board was very proud of the bank’s achievements over the past two years , and assured the bank’s partners, especially customers that the Board will work closely with the management to continue to improve the bank’s performance and competitiveness.
Chief Executive of the Bank, Mr. John Awuah explained the new branch is part of the bank’s strategy to enhance customer convenience by investing in the expansion of both physical and digital channels.
He noted the expansion of the bank’s physical presence is critical for meeting the current needs of customers, and also noted that the bank has taken steps to capitalize on advances in technology to lead the market in digital banking.
“In the next few years, you can expect to see a UMB that is more technology oriented and that takes even more innovative steps to meet and shape customer experiences.”, he assured.
Mr. Lawrence Appiah-Baiden, UMB’s Director of Retail also highlighted the fact that since rebranding the bank in 2014, it has been strengthening its presence in the retail banking space.
“We will be opening branches in locations where we are underrepresented to remain within close proximity to our clients. This aggressive expansion of our retail presence is a key part of our strategy to become one of the top tier banks in Ghana by the year 2020,” he said
Mr. Appiah-Baiden further expressed the hope that individuals and business within Sakaman, Dansoman, Mallam and its environs would take advantage of the superior customer service and quality banking products that UMB has to offer.
