Akufo-Addo cited for ‘cockroach promises’

Nana Akufo-Addo Asesewa Market

The Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the promise by Nana Akufo-Addo to ensure “1-village-1-dam” to improve agriculture in the north as a “cockroach promise”.

Awudu Sofo Azorka said the flagbearer of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has not even been forthright and clear with his one factory per a district promise, and yet want to add more promises.

During his on-going campaign tour to the Northern Region Nana Akufo-Addo said he will prioritize the development of agriculture in three northern regions by increasing the number of irrigation systems if he wins power.

“You have been hearing me talking about 1-District-1-Factory. As far as this part of the country is concerned, I even want to go further and talk about ‘1-village-1-dam’, to make sure that in every village, we have a functioning dam to support agriculture. If Ghana’s agriculture is working well, the nation is capable of feeding West Africa”, he noted.

But reacting to the issue on Onua FM’s Yen Sempa hosted by Bright Asempa on Monday, the Northern Regional Chairman of the NDC, Sofo Azorka said the NPP flagbearer is just making “cockroaches promise”.

He added that “All the dams have been done so Nana Akufo-Addo should not run away from the factories he promised”.

Sofo Azorka explained that “what we need is Airport, roads and water and President Mahama has done them all for the people of [the] North”.
