Ghanaian rap lyricist, Joseph Gamor, popularly known by his stage name Lyrical Joe/LJ has shed light on an intriguing aspect of his journey in music alongside his fellow rapper Amerado.

Despite both artists having claimed the prestigious Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) best rapper accolade, the “5th August 7” rapper opined that their artistic paths are yet to converge on the same plane. Lyrical Joe explained that even though his colleague, Amerado has won the same award he (lyrical) won a year ago, they are still not equal.

Speaking with Ameyaw Tv’s Zeinat Issahaku, the rapper stated that, “We are both award-winning rappers, as for that one I agree, but when it comes to rapping we are not equal. oh yes, I mean it’s not just anyone that can win VGMA’s Best Rap Performer Award, it takes a whole lot. So if it comes to that place, I have one and he also has one but when it comes to rappers, are we the same? No, I’m on a whole different lane.”

It will be recalled that both rappers, somewhere in 2022 traded some diss songs. The ‘beef’ between them started from Eno Barony’s The Finish Line song, which featured Amerado. Amerado jabbed Lyrical Joe on the track, claiming to be bossier in the rap sphere than him.

Prior to this, Lyrical Joe had been awarded the Best Rap Performance at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 2022, an award that some disappointed fans expected Amerado to win since he had also picked up the same award at the 2022 3Music Awards and was looking forward to winning it at the VGMAs. But that never happened.

Amerado’s jab didn’t sit well with Lyrical Joe, who quickly returned with a freestyle to balance the atmosphere. In the damning freestyle, which featured Kwadwo Sheldon, Lyrical Joe dragged Amerado’s self-sense of superiority and rubbished his craft.

This continued and resulted in both rappers throwing shots at each other over who is the best.
