The National Democratic Congress says it is targeting 16,000 votes in the Ellembelle constituency of the Western Region in this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7.
Member of Parliament Emmanuel Armah – Kofi Buah who is seeking a third term in parliament on the ticket of the NDC said the party is seeking to increase its votes in this year’s elections in line with the trend in past elections.
“In our first term, we were able to win the election by beating the NPP by 1,400. The second term, we beat them by almost 8,000, votes. Our targets in this election is to increase our votes to 16,000, and that is our goal,” he said.
The MP said this when he submitted his nomination forms to the Electoral Commission’s District office at Nkrofuto amid pomp by party supporters who were clad in party paraphernalia.
Addressing his supporters, Armah-Kofi Buah noted the major projects that the NDC government has brought to the constituency hav turned Ellembelle into an oil and gas hub.
This, he urged the electorates in the area, to let it reflect in this years general elections.
He admitted that though electricity has been extended to remote areas, new schools have been built, health and education have been improved in remote areas among other projects, there is there is still more to be done.
He cited the construction of the Esiama – Nkroful road among others as some of the projects to be undertaken to complement the works of the John Mahama-led NDC government.
Mr Armah-Kofi Buah urged the party supporters, especially the grassroots, to reach out to the floating voters and other political parties and sell the achievements of the NDC government to them in order to get those electorates to vote the NDC.
“If you love the NDC , and you mean it and you want the NDC to win, the only way you can give meaning to that is to spend at least 3 hours everyday working to make sure we win this election and it means hard working” he stressed.
The MP also underscored the need for them to reach out to every community, village and every household to explain the agenda of transforming Ghana and changing lives to the people.
Mr Buah who is the Western Regional NDC Campaign Coordinator, said there are clear strategies in place to ensure that the Western Region votes massively for the NDC.
He added “I am very confident we will deliver the Western Region massively for President John Dramani Mahama”
