Winner of TV3’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful Season 8, Bentie Abigail Baciara has been leading an empowerment programme in the Jirapa district of the Upper West Region for girls to say no to child marriage.
Bentie Abigail Baciara popularly known as Baci, as an ambassador of End Child Marriage, has been interacting with school girls in Jirapa to build their self-confidence.
Through the initiative, about 50 selected girls in Primary and Junior High schools in the Jirapa district have been empowered to become ambassadors of ending child marriage in their various localities.
According to UNICEF, the Upper West Region is second in child marriages in Ghana after the Upper East Region.
Stakeholders in local communities have been challenged to join hands in the fight against child marriage.
At Jirapa, the girls participated in a short quiz on human and child rights related issues.
Each girl received exercise books for participating in the event and others for answering questions.
Ghana Most Beautiful, Baci urged stakeholders to help protect the girl child.
The event was sponsored by Actionaid Ghana with support from UNICEF.
