Suspect Nanyim Nakwaja, 42, and Samira, 21, natives of Kunkuna, a suburb of Bimbilla, have been arrested by the Nanumba District Police for allegedly stealing a four-day-old baby girl from the Bimbilla Government Hospital.

The four days baby girl was on Friday, August, 2016 declared missing by the Nanumba District Police after its mother woke up the dawn of Friday to breastfeed her but did not find her.

Almost twenty four hours after its bizarre disappearance, the baby was found with Samira at her residence by some community members who acted on an announcement to assist the police to find the baby.

According to our sources, the baby girl was born with some deformity which is regarded as a sacrilege in the tradition. Thus, Samira was allegedly contacted to sacrifice the girl per customs.

Nanyim Nakwaja, 42, was supposed to deliver the baby girl to Samira for the required sacrifice but luck run out on the duo and have since been arrested.

The Bimbila Police Commander DSP Benjamin Aniah confirmed the case to TV3 but added his outfit is yet to establish a connection between the parents of the baby and the suspect.
