Actress and producer Keisha Nash, the ex-wife to Black Panther actor Forest Whitaker for over two decades, has passed away at the age of 51.

The sad news was shared by her 25-year-old daughter, True Whitaker, through an Instagram Story on Wednesday. True posted nostalgic photos of her mother, expressing a heartfelt message: “Goodbye mommy. I love you 4ever and beyond.”

True continued to pay tribute to her mother, describing her as the most beautiful woman in the world and expressing gratitude for the lessons she imparted. She concluded, “I’ll see you in my dreams and I’ll feel you in my heart.”

USA TODAY has verified that Forest Whitaker’s official account follows True’s Instagram, and efforts have been made to reach out to Forest Whitaker’s representative for comment.

Keisha Nash Whitaker, recognized for her contributions as an actress and producer, attended the premiere of “Amy” at ArcLight Cinemas on June 25, 2015, in Hollywood, California. Her IMDb page credits her with a role in the 2004 film “Proud.” Additionally, she served as the host of the TLC reality competition show, “Who Are You Wearing?” in 2008.

Forest Whitaker and Nash Whitaker, who initially met on the set of the 1994 film “Blown Away,” were married for 22 years and had two children together, True and Sonnet Whitaker (27). Nash Whitaker was also a mother to Autumn, her daughter from a previous relationship.

Forest Whitaker, acclaimed for his role in 2006’s “The Last King of Scotland,” filed for divorce from Nash Whitaker in 2018, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple had been together for over two decades, and Nash Whitaker continued to support Forest’s work through her X (formerly Twitter) account, which has been inactive since 2020.

In recent years, Nash Whitaker mainly shared posts related to Forest’s work and his nonprofit, the Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative. The passing of Keisha Nash Whitaker marks the end of a chapter in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
