The Black Stars booked a 7th straight qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, June 5 when they beat their Mauritian counterparts 0-2.
With a final game against Rwanda in the qualification for Gabon 2017, the Stars needed a win away to secure qualification to Africa’s flagship tournament.
Stand-in captain Andre Ayew scored first deep into the second half before Christian Atsu doubled the lead for the 2015 finalists.
The win at the Stade Anjalay on the penultimate day of qualifiers put Ghana on top of Group H with 13 points with Rwanda, Mozambique and Mauritius, in that order, falling short of qualification.
Ghana as a result join hosts Gabon, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Cameroon, Senegal and debutantes Guinea-Bissau as qualifiers for the 16-nation tournament, which is scheduled to be held from January 14 to February 5, 2017.
