Jamaican Usain Bolt has won the men’s 100m race at the Olympic Games again, making him the first athlete to do so in three consecutive Olympics.

He beat archrival Justin Gatlin to annex his first gold medal in Rio.

Bolt clocked a time of 9.81 seconds to defend his title from the London and Beijing Games.

While American Gatlin clocked 9.89s to come 2nd, Canadian Andre De Grasse clocked 9.91s to come 3rd, leaving former world champion Yohan Blake outside the medal zone.

For the first time in more than 10 years, there were two Africans in the final.

While South African Akani Simbine ran 9.94s to finish 5th, Ivorian Ben Youssef Meite raced 9.96s to come a respectable 6th.
