About 85 buses were used for the piloting

The test-run of the bus rapid transit (BRT) system has been suspended, 3news.com has gathered.

There has been no official statement on the suspension but our sources say the decision has to do with communication between the Control Center of the Greater Accra Passenger Transport Executive (GAPTE) – managers of the service – and the drivers.

The interface on the dashboard is also said to be posing challenges to the drivers.

A piloting of the intra-city bus service began on Monday, September 26 ahead of full operation next month.

It was scheduled for five working days – to end on Friday, September 30.

About 85 buses were used for the exercise, which also had some journalists on board. All passengers aboard enjoyed free rides.

The Achimota-Tudu corridor was used for the piloting, which is expected to resume after the communication defects are debugged.
