CAF Confed Cup: Medeama in another draw

Medeama SC

Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC on Saturday held Tanzania’s Young Boys to a 1-1 draw in a CAF Confederation Group A match.

Played at the National Stadium of the East African country, the match was a must-win for the two sides, who are yet to pick maximum points in the group.

But it was Yanga that drew first blood after Donald Ngoma beat goalkeeper Daniel Agyei in what was greeted with a rapturous reaction from the home crowd.

Bernard Ofori, however, drew level a few minutes later for the Ghanaians. That equalising goal drew a similar reaction from the crowd, apparently from supporters of Yanga’s archrivals Simba FC.

The score stayed same until the end though Agyei was called to save Medeama on a number of occasions.

The draw keeps the East Africans bottom of Group A with the West Africans just a point above them.

The reverse fixture will be the next game on July 26.

African Champions TP Mazember lead the group and are billed to play Algeria’s MO Bejaia later.
