Medeama SC have leapfrogged MO Bejaia to move 2nd in Group A of the CAF Confederation Cup after the Algerians lost 0-1 at Lubumbabshi on Wednesday.
A second half strike by Rainford Kalaba ensured that group leaders TP Mazembe open a five-point lead.
On Tuesday, Ghana’s Medeama beat Young Africans of Tanzania 3-1 to boost their chances of making it out of the group. It was their first win of the campaign, having lost one and drawn two.
They went level on points with MO Bejaia but have more goals than the Algerians as head-to-head cannot separate them.
Medeama’s next fixture will be on August 14 against the Congolese while MO Bejaia travel to Dar es Salaam.
In the other group, Morocco’s FUS Rabat lead the charge with Tunisia’s Etoile Sportive du Sahel at their heels.
