Campaigning with my health “will not work”: Nana Addo tells detractors

Nana Addo

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo has hit back at his critics who say he is sick and has been diagnosed of cancer by a hospital in the UK.

Nana Addo who is currently on his campaign in the Upper East region told party supporters that he is in good health and ready to serve the people of Ghana.

“They said I was a dwarf, it didn’t work, they said I was in a wheelchair, it didn’t work, they said i am a murderer, it didn’t work, they said I will die in June, it didn’t work, they said I was a dictator, it didn’t work, they said I was intolerant, it didn’t work, they said I was violent, it didn’t work, they said I had a secret agenda to distabilise the country, it didn’t work, now they are saying I have cancer, it will not work.”

The enthusiastic crowd kept shouting “never, never” during Nana Addo’s speech as they joined him in verbally nullifying the accusations leveled against him.

The latest edition of the Africa Watch magazine said the NPP leader had been diagnosed of cancer but spokesperson for Nana Addo, Mustapha Hamid in an interview with Joy Fm indicated that although he cannot medically verify whether or not his flagbearer was sick, he was optimistic that Nana Addo was in good health looking at the enormous amount of work he is doing.

“If he were as sick as the so called report is stating, how then could he be campaigning like he is?” Mustapha questioned.

Meanwhile the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and spokesperson of late President John Atta Mills, Koku Anyidoho emphatically condemned campaigns that bothered on the health of party flagbearers.

He said it was unfortunate that party spokespersons would campaign on the health of flagbearers instead of focusing on pertinent issues that affected the everyday lives of Ghanaians.
