Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, the Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, has been elected as the President of the Central Region House of Chiefs.

Obrempong Krampah XI, therefore, replaces Daasebre Kwabu Ewusi VII, the Omanhen of Abeadze Dominase Traditional Area.

The paramount chief of Gomoa Ajumako polled 8 out of 25 votes to emerge winner of Thursday’s elections held at the House in Cape Coast.

He beat competition from four other chiefs – namely Odeefuo Amuakwa Buadu VI (Breman Asikuma), Okatakyi Dr. Amanfi VII (Asebu), Okokodurfo Ogyeabo K H Ababio II (Ajumako) and Ehunabobrim Pea Agyensaim VI (Owirenkyi) – to emerge triumphant.

The new president pledged his commitment to ensure that chieftaincy in the Region remains litigation-free. He also promised infrastructural development.

“Factories and industries can be sited in the Central Region so that Accra [and] Tema will be decongested.

“We are all aware that the region is endowed with a lot of natural resources which the government can turn and create job opportunities out of it.”

Omanhen of Twifo Traditional Area Nana Appiah Nuamah also beat competition from Omanhen of Ayeldu Okakaben Idun Andoh X and Omanhen of Oguaa Osabarma Kwesi Atta II to emerge as the Vice President.

Five other chiefs including the outgoing president were elected to represent the regional house at the national level, National House of Chiefs.
