Ghanaian entertainment blogger and owner of Ghana Celebrities, Chris-Vincent Agyapong, has lashed out at DStv Ghana for sending him a press statement on the upcoming Paralympics for publication free of charge.
The public relations department of Multichoice Ghana, operators of DStv, on Monday afternoon sent out the statement to over 70 media houses and personalities on its email list to announce it will be covering the Paralympics on one of its channels.
But Mr Agyepong questioned the basis for the company to send him such a statement for publication on his website, especially so when DStv does not have any business relationship whatsoever with him.
“Why are you sending me this material? Do we have a working relationship or do you own my platform?” he wrote in response to the email from the DStv issued by Nii Armah Dagadu.
He wondered why DStv is charging its clients for services rendered to them but pushes statements to media houses without payment for the publicity.
“Perhaps, you paid for my undergraduate degree and masters–so you think you can send me whatever, when you are being paid so I will work for you for free,” he said, adding “I don’t really care about your business–at least not as much as I care about mine”.
He then took to Facebook to share condemn the sending of promo materials and statements to journalists and media houses for publication free of charge whereas they are charging for services they render to their clients.
