A Christian group, Movement for the Kingdom Image, has urged the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to call to order “some indiscipline youth” who carried a ‘coffin’ purported to contain the ‘dead body’ of opposition leader Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at NDC’s manifesto launch in Sunyani.
The group expressed disappointment in the gesture, saying it is a sign of “the escalating indiscipline in the NDC”.
“We expect Mr Mahama and his party secretary to call some indiscipline youth to order in some cases to make Ghana attractive in the outside world,” MFKI said in a statement on Monday, September 19, 2016.
“We think in this time and age it’s too barbaric to carry coffin to party function with pictures of opposition leader and claims that is the dead body of opposition leader for burial.
“Even though leadership of the party saw their followers engaging in such indiscipline act they could not stop them but rather urged them on.
“In as much as we need democracy in the country we also believe the best form of democracy is discipline and respect for individuals especially the elderly in the society.”
The Movement described the gesture as unacceptable and called on all and sundry especially politicians to respect all.
“Let’s respect because politics will be over but life will go on.”
