Guinness World Records (GWR) have reacted to the record-breaking attempt by Ghanaian Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak commonly known as Jah Bless Failatu in a bid to become the holder of the longest cooking marathon (cook-a-thon) record.
This comes after an official X account, Olele Salvador posted a video that announced the end of Faila’s cook-a-thon.
The GWR in a tweet on Wednesday, January 10 said “We look forward to reviewing her evidence”!
Chef Faila undertook a 10-day cook-a-thon at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale from January 1, 2024, clocking a remarkable 227 hours of continuous cooking in an attempt to break the current 119 hour and 57 minutes record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher with support from her assistant, Chef Malik Eric.
She showcased her exceptional cooking skills by preparing local Ghanaian and continental delicacies comprising of; jollof rice, braised rice, banku, tuo zaafi, fufu, rice balls, among others, with a variety of soups.
Some of her mouth-watering foreign delicacies include; pancakes, waffles, samosa, spring rolls, baked pastries all kinds of salads and so on.
The event witnessed a rich display of culture by the people of the Northern Region.
Determined to break the official record, Chef Faila ended her cook-a-thon at an astounding 227 hours:00mins:02 seconds after an unwavering display of resilience amid huge support from celebrities, dignitaries including Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Chief of Staff Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, former First Lady Lordina Mahama, and former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu.
Faila broke down in tears as she could not believe her astounding achievement after her team announced the end of her cook-a-thon.
Her record-breaking attempt has gained global attention and was filled with unforgettable memories as many await the official confirmation for the Guinness World Record.
Meanwhile, Faila’s attempt followed another remarkable one spearheaded by Afua Asantewaa Aduonum whose zeal to break the record of the longest singing marathon (sing-a-thon) saw her sing continuously for 126 hours and 52 minutes also awaiting approval from GWR.
