CPP suspends Gen. Sec. Nii Armah Akomfrah & Ernesto Yeboah

CPP suspend Akomfrah & Ernesto

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has suspended its General Secretary, Nii Amarh Akomfrah and the National Youth Organiser, Ernesto Yeboah for flouting party directives.

According to the party, the decision was taken after a Central Committee meeting on Thursday, June 30 following a motion filed by a member of the said committee.

Director of Communications of the CPP Abdul Rauf Kadiri in an interview on Joy FM said “they have been referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the party and while awaiting the report of the committee they are on suspension until further notice.”

He further indicated that the two executives had exhibited acts of “indiscipline” against the party hierarchy which had given a position that the ‘Car Gift Saga’ involving President John was ‘not an act of corruption’.

The flagbearer of the party, Ivor Greenstreet, in an interview over the car gift saga indicated that he did not see anything wrong with the Ford Expedition vehicle which was given to President John Mahama by a Burkinabe contractor.

After the flagbearer’s comments, the General Secretary, Mr. Akomfrah cautioned Mr. Greenstreet to consult the party before making comments on such national issues which bordered on accusations of corruption.

The National Youth Organiser of the party, Ernesto Yeboah on the other hand has filed a petition with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) asking the institution to investigate the president over the allegation.

These acts, according to Rauf Kadiri, flouted simple party procedures and was contrary to the collective position of the party.

The two are to stay suspended until further notice.
