Vera Oheneba Safoah, known popularly as Esi, the winner of TV3’s reality beauty pageant, Ghana’s Most Beautiful IX, is set to represent Ghana in the 2016 Miss Freedom of World pageant slated to be held in Kosovo.
The three-week event will have ladies from 50 countries participating.
Fifteen countries in Africa are expected to be part and ESI will represent Ghana in that regard.
Miss Freedom of the World is a pageant that brings together beauty queens from their respective countries and expected to articulate projects they have been embarking on to help their societies and countries.
ESI in an exclusive interview with 3news.com’s Thomas Vincent Cann expressed how elated she was to take up this challenge to represent Ghana internationally.
According to her, Miss Freedom of the World is one pageant which will offer her the opportunity to showcase the goodies Ghana has as well as to exhibit the intelligence of the Ghanaian youth or young woman.
“I know it’s not going to be easy but I believe it’s a good platform to put Ghana on the global map to showcase the good things that Ghana has in terms of exhibiting intelligence of the African woman for her society and country and the world at large,” she said.
Esi also expressed happiness to represent Ghana after being crowned Ghana’s Most Beautiful 2015 especially with ‘Ghana’ attached to her beauty queen accolade.
“You know Ghana’s Most Beautiful is not just any beauty pageant but has a national interest which seeks to promote cultural diversity and address some issues that benefit society and Miss Freedom of the World is also geared towards peace and tranquility. It’s in the right order for Ghana to be part of it.
“Ghana as we all know stands tall in exhibiting good morals of maintaining peace and order in practising democracy,” she added.
She was hopeful that Ghana will be closely monitored in the pageant especially that Ghana has few months to the general elections.
According to Esi, she’s also optimistic that her project that has to do with youth empowerment and emphasis on fighting teenage pregnancy will be key because teenage pregnancy is one problem that cuts across many countries especially with its social and health implications and needs more attention to help reduce it.
“Myself and team members of my PEMPAMSIE FOUNDATION have been doing our best with the campaigns in schools and communities to encourage the youth to take their education serious to help have a good future as well as preaching against teenage pregnancy.”
She underscored the need to remind the youth to have good education and be of good behaviour because they are the future holders of the world.
“If we do not have the youth who are educated and without good behaviour, then the future will be with lots of social vices that will not yield any good development we expect for our country and the continent at large.”
Esi expressed optimism that Miss Freedom of the World will offer her another opportunity to expose her to learn something good from different people from different cultures and backgrounds.
She was e grateful to TV3 for providing the platform that has brought her this far and to all who have supported her.
Asked what her plans are after the Miss Freedom of the World, Esi said her PEMPAMSIE FOUNDATION has some lined-up activities that she is hopeful to execute.
“We have plans to have an anti-teenage pregnancy outreach programme in Cape Coast in the first week of September when the Oguaa Fetu Festival will be happening and that is the time most of the girls there become more promiscuous,” she answered.
She also hinted that her foundation has plans to establish clubs in the various junior high schools in the next academic year to empower teenage girls to aspire to great ambitions as well as to be anti-teenage pregnancy peer ambassadors.
“We have begun such moves already and one of the ways we are going is to have mentorship programmes for the teenagers.
“In the course of the acadamic year just before they went on vacation I was part of some noble women who served as resource persons for a mentorship programme for some hundred junior high school pupils from some selected deprived districts in the central region by the central regional department of children and it went well.”
Esi also called for the support of all Ghanaians in her quest to make Ghana the winner of Miss Freedom of the World 2016.
Esi is expected to return on 24th August 2016.
