Former Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) Madam Eva Lokko has died.

Madam Eva Lokko passed away on Thursday, October 6, 3news.com has gathered.

Until her death, Madam Eva Lokko was the Klottey Korle parliamentary candidate for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).

She joined the PPP in 2012 as its Vice Presidential Candidate in that year’s elections.

Madam Eva Lokko’s feat at the national broadcaster dates back to the 1970s when she became the first woman engineer to be employed.

She was part of the engineering team that installed Ghana’s first colour television infrastructure in 1985.

Madam Eva Lokko, GBC’s only female head since its establishment, had also worked for the United Nations, serving at one time as the chairperson of the UN Federation of International Civil Servants Association. She was also a member of the UNDP News Advisory Board.

She ran a youth-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), Totally Youth, in Accra.
