The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) will be the first on the ballot paper for the 2016 parliamentary elections.
This was made known on Thursday, October 20 after a special balloting exercise was held at the head office of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) in Accra.
The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) picked Number 3 ahead of arch-rivals New Patriotic Party, which will be Number 5 on the parliamentary ballot papers.
There were seven political parties present for Thursday’s balloting while 15 parties in successfully submitted nominations for the December 7 parliamentary elections.
Major political parties Convention People’s Party (CPP) and People’s National Convention (PNC) will have their candidates close to the base of the ballot papers after being allotted the 13th and 14th places respectively.
A similar exercise is expected to be held later for the presidential polls.
