Ghanaian dancehall artistes bashed over ‘fake’ Patois

The Chief Executive Officer of Media Excel Production and an entertainment critic, Akwasi Ernest, says Ghanaian dancehall artistes will be beaten to death in Jamaica if they speak Patois.

Jamaica’s official language is Standard English. However, many Jamaicans speak Patois, which is a separate dialect. It is also the dialect that is used by most Jamaicans in everyday conversation.

The number of Ghanaian dancehall artistes, who have ever set feet in Jamaica, are a handful, according to sources.

It is not clear where they learn to speak the language but sometimes one is forced to believe that the ability to speak Patois comes naturally to every dancehall artiste.

Speaking on Anigye Mmre on Onua FM,  Akwasi Ernest said the self-acclaimed dancehall artistes in Ghana are shallow minded in terms of speaking of Patois.

He added that the dancehall artistes in Ghana will be beaten to death in Jamaica should they speak their Patois.

He is therefore urging them to give even their genre a different name since what do is nothing compared to dancehall music.

He was emphatic dancehall artistes in Ghana wouldn’t survive in Jamaica “because their songs will be stuck in their bedrooms”.

He hit out at Shatta Wale and MzVee, saying what they speak is different from Patois.
