Winner of Ghana’s Most Beautiful season X, Yaba has revealed how she missed out on the opportunity to compete in last year’s competition, but believes it was the will of God.

Yaba was crowned the ‘Legacy Queen’ on Sunday beating off competition from four other contestants to wear the prestigious crown which she gets to keep for good, in addition to GHc10, 000 cash prize, a four wheel drive car, and a trip to South Africa.

Speaking on TV3’s Midday news, the newly crowned queen revealed how she narrowly missed out on the auditioning for last year’s competition.

“It’s amazing because last year, I came and when I got here I was told the audition was over so they didn’t even attend to me and I had to go back.

“I was sad but I didn’t know God was planning something for me so this year I had gone for a debate tournament and on my way back to Takoradi, a friend called and told me the audition was the next day in Kumasi so I just had to get to Takoradi and come back to Kumasi for the auditions the next day”.

She recalled a moment during the Accra auditioning when she was asked to sing the KNUST anthem which was in Latin as one she would never forget.

“I remember when Bro KK asked me to sing the KNUST school anthem which I sang to some point until I couldn’t go anymore and everyone started laughing but that reduced the tension anyway”.

Response to criticisms

According to her she is not bothered by criticisms on social media that she didn’t deserve the crown. Rather, she said, they will motivate her to work harder to prove to them that she deserves it on any level.

“These criticisms are motivating me rather and not affecting me negatively because I know what I did and I know I deserved it and they gave it to me so I’m going to work hard to prove those who are criticising me wrong.”

Project

“My project is based on breast cancer because I lost an aunty through breast cancer two years ago so it is very dear to me”.

According to Yaba, she is ready to take up the campaign against breast cancer with all the seriousness and hopes to make an impact in the lives of people

“This is not something I’ve heard of and want to do because I have seen it, I have lived with it and I am even at risk. Because it is hereditary there is no way I’m giving up on my project and I’m going to start from the Jomoro district and gradually we will move through the entire Western region and hopefully the whole Ghana”.
