Songstress, Efya has weighed in on the controversy surrounding socialite, Moesha Buduong’s GoFundMe, despite her association with wealthy celebrities.
Responding to a post on X by media personality C-Real, Efya acknowledged, “Thank you for bringing up this important point. It’s true that wealthy individuals could privately fund this initiative.”
She added, “However, public fundraising campaigns like GoFundMe can serve multiple purposes beyond just raising money. It helps in raising awareness about the cause or the individual’s situation, which might be important to the person in need.”
Efya revealed that she, along with fellow celebrities, has privately contributed to Moesha’s cause and expressed heartfelt wishes for her recovery. She emphasized the significance of public campaigns, recognizing that while affluent individuals could privately fund initiatives like Moesha’s GoFundMe, the broader awareness and emotional support garnered from public involvement are invaluable.
“Additionally, public campaigns allow a broader community to show support and solidarity, which can be emotionally uplifting for the person in need.”
Moesha’s brother, Ebito initiated the GoFundMe to raise $10,000 for her health following a stroke and coma.
