The government has received the initial unit of two modern trains acquired from Poland, aimed at improving railway transportation within the country.
This first train, designated for use by Ghana Railways on both regional and long-distance routes, recently arrived in the country.
Deputy Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar shared images of the train on January 19 to officially confirm the government’s procurement.

The chief executive officer of the Ghana Railway Development Authority, Yaw Owusu had previously disclosed that the second train is scheduled for shipment in May and is expected to arrive in August.
Ahead of their official commissioning, these modern trains will undergo testing on the new 100km Tema to MPakadan railway line. President Akufo-Addo is expected to officially commission the trains in June this year, marking a new era in railway transportation development across the country.
