President John Mahama says if he is given the nod to continue as Ghana’s president for the next four years, he “would build new sports stadia in the Upper West, Upper East, Volta, Eastern and Brong Ahafo regions.”
This would mean all 10 regions in the country would have their own sports stadia. Already Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, Western and Northern regions already have ultra- modern stadia.
The President said this when he gave highlights of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) manifesto highlights for the 2016 elections.
This was one of the many promises made by the president regarding sports.
The president further indicated that “in every region, one of the new 200 community day Senior High Schools would be selected, fitted and developed into a Center of Excellence in Sports. It’ll be a secondary school but all the young people who show excellence in sports would be brought to that secondary school.
“So there would be 10 of them in each region, they’ll compete in athletics and all other sports, we’ll draw the young talents from there to feed the national teams”
The NDC would launch the full manifesto on Saturday September 17 in the Brong Ahafo regional capital, Sunyani.
