GreenMinds Ghana, a non-governmental organization that seeks to empower the youth especially persons with disabilities, has organized a football match between the amputee and persons with no physical deformities as part of its socialization activities.
The match, which ended 2-1 in favour of the amputee team, was played at the Bishop School Park at Kaneshie in the Greater Accra Region.
The all-exciting football match saw the presence of the Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South, Ahmed Arthur, and the President of Amputee Football Federation of Africa, Francis Adjetey Sowah, among other dignitaries.
The event, according to the Executive Director of GreenMinds, Amartey Albert, is to create awareness that disability is not synonymous to inability.
“The time has come for each and everyone to understand that the fact that a person who is physically challenged does not mean that he or she is incapacitated. We should all show love and care and extend a helping hand to each other irrespective of one’s physical condition.”
The amputee team was presented with a trophy, crutches, and an undisclosed amount of money after winning the game.
Ghanaian musician, Nero X, also entertained participants of the event by performing some of his hit songs such as ‘Osey’ featuring Castro.
