President John Dramani Mahama has in a letter dated June 17, 2016 removed from office High Court judge Justice Ivy Heward Mills after she was found culpable in the investigative report of journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The letter followed a recommendation for Justice Heward Mills’ removal by a committee set up by the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood.

A prima facie case was established against the Cape Coast judge after she was found guilty of accepting money prior to the case involving Nana Kofi Annan & Or. Vrs John Kwadwo Bobie, at Aggrey Memorial School Junction.

A statement issued on Friday, June 24 said the dismissed high court judge “is to hand her bungalow and official properties in her possession including her official government vehicle, dockets and record books to the Judicial Secretary, forthwith”.

Signed by First Deputy Judicial Secretary Justice Juliana Amonoo-Neizer, the statement said the Director of Human Resource has been requested to ensure that Justice Heward Mills’ name is deleted from the payroll of the Judicial Service.

Anas’ investigative report last year indicted 12 high court judges and 22 lower court judges with most of them relieved of their posts already.
