Huawei Ghana launches 2022 edition of Seeds for the Future

Huawei Ghana in partnership with the Ministries of Communications and Digitalisation and Foreign Affairs has launched the 2022 edition of Seeds for the Future program.

The program seeks to equip women  and girls with the knowledge and skills set required to take up careers in Science Technology Mathematics Engineering (STEM).

 Speaking at the launch, the Deputy Minister for Communications, Ama Pomaa commended Huawei for its commitment to “harnessing the potential of young women and providing them with the platform to compete equitably in the information and communication technology space.”

She said her outfit partnered with Huawei to train and empower more girls in digital technologies as part of efforts at inspiring the youth to embrace ICT education.

Through this partnership, over 12,000 Senior High School girls have been trained in Privacy Protection and Cyber Security this year.

While urging the 2022 Seeds for the Future Beneficiaries to develop their leadership skills, Ms Pomaa also reminded them to take advantage of the opportunities the programme presents to advance their skills and knowledge.

“Pairing with countries like Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and the Baltics, we expect you to effectively take part in the training and represent Ghana positively towards the development of ICT talents in  Ghana aimed at helping the country achieve its Digital Transformation Agenda,” the Minister said.

The Deputy Managing Director for Huawei, Essuman Quansah urged the girls to represent Ghana positively as they network and “leap into a brighter future with the tools provided” during the program.

She also expressed her appreciation to the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation for their collaboration and unflinching support.
