One of the pair of Wutah duo Afriyie says the plight of the world does not inspire him to sing about sex, alcohol and women.

He noted that the world as at now has too much troubles and believes musicians must inspire people with their music rather than sing about sex, alcohol and women which he will never do.

The highlife singer, who is on a radio tour to launch his new single, averred that the world needs love.

Afriyie said these during an interview on 3FM’s Easy Stream hosted by Heavy D.

“Looking at how the world is moving and where it has directed itself to, the only thing we need now is love.”

He debunked the use of alcohol and sex as a way to enjoy living on earth.

“Personally I can’t sing about sex, alcohol and women when people are suffering because I feel the world needs more love.

“You look at domestic violence, mass migration from the Middle East into Europe, threats from Boko Haram and all these groups and you will just realise the world needs more love.

He continued, “As a musician I feel that is what I can to curb what has been happening around the world.

“We need to inspire people, give them hope so they can see a reason why they should continue to hang onto the last string”.

Relationship with Kobby

“Our relationship goes beyond colleagues and in fact we were friends before we embarked on this journey of a lifetime so when the music stops playing the friendship will still exist”.

According to him, they still remain the best of friends and have no qualms between them as many have made the situation look like.

He said the rumours and speculations are all part of the game and a normal practice in the showbiz industry and is therefore not bothered what he hears about him and Kobby.

Afriyie was a member of the duo, Wutah.

They broke into the limelight in 2004 after taking part in the Nescafe Africa Revelation contest.

Wutah released some hit tracks, including ‘Goosie gander,’ ‘Adonko’ and ‘Big dreams’, which got them eleven nominations and eventually the Reggae Song of the Year Award at the 2006 Ghana Music Awards.

There were rumours of some conflict between Afriyie and Wutah but they denied this. In 2009, they decided to break up.
