Renowned media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah, shared that she gave up her dream of obtaining a medical degree after becoming pregnant.
She openly acknowledged the profound sacrifices she made for the well-being of her child.
During an interview on 3Music TV, she revealed a previously undisclosed detail about her academic journey, stating, “Did I sacrifice school? I did. For one year, and I’ve never said this before, but I got admission to medical school. You know, I was a science student as well, so I got admission to medical school, and I had to let that go.”
Opting out of medical school came with its share of challenges, particularly in light of her father’s hopes for her. Anamoah explained, “My father wanted me to be a doctor. I didn’t want to be. My father thought I’d be a fantastic doctor. He was living his life through me. I think he wanted to be a doctor; he couldn’t do it, so he thought, ‘Oh, my daughter will be a doctor.'”
Upon reflection, Anamoah acknowledged that pursuing a career as a doctor wouldn’t have been the right path for her.
“I would have been a disaster, and it came at the right time.”
Remarkably, she observed that, contrary to his initial expectations, her father was understanding.”For my father, he was not bothered because we were very close.”
Anamoah suggested there are more untold aspects of her life, indicating that her experiences drive her involvement with the “Woman of Valour” initiative. This initiative aims to reveal the untold stories and struggles of women, with the overarching goal of inspiring and empowering others.
