Award-winning popular Ghanaian singer, Lasmind has finally broken the silence after leaving Kaywa’s Highly Spiritual Music, says he did no wrong parting ways with the label, despite being labeled as an ungrateful person.
The ‘Friday Night’ hitmaker, Speaking on Kingdom FM’s “Afro Joint show” in Accra, Lasmid expressed his surprise at comments that Kaywa is hurt and disappointed when he left the label since he is still on very good terms with him.
“I didn’t know leaving Kaywa’s Highly Spiritual will be a disappointment to him. I never knew about that. I believe when you do something wrong, that is when people get hurt or feel disappointed but that is different in my case.
“However, if people believe I have done something wrong, then I will address whatever issues it is at the right time. I’m still cool with Papa and I’m sure about that because we still talk. I was even at his mother’s funeral recently,” he stated.
Kaywa has been in the news recently following the exit of his signees including Lasmid and Mr Drew earlier this year.
Though he didn’t hide his disappointment at the turn out of events, Kaywa told Graphic Showbiz in an interview last month that he leaves his former signees in the hands of God for abandoning him after he invested hugely in them and made them household names.
“I know how painful it can be to invest in new artistes only for them to leave when they reach their peak but that is life. If I should consider all these, I would not sign on any artiste again but one thing I tell myself is that I am building national assets.
“Everyone knows the role I played in the lives of all the artistes who left my record label. The little impact I made in their careers is enough joy for me and if they become like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, I will take the credit for that. Dr Duncan might not be very wealthy but everyone knows what he did for Sarkodie”, he said.
