Legendary highlife artist, Adane Best has said that he does not need to release a hit song to survive in the music industry.
With over 32 years in the business, Adane Best has a catalog of timeless songs that continue to resonate with audiences. This has allowed him to maintain a steady stream of live performances, even though he has not had a major hit in over a decade.
“I believe I have paid my dues as one of the best highlife musicians with incredible songs,” Adane Best said in an interview with Graphic Showbiz. “All my songs are timeless, and the reason I am always getting gigs in Ghana and beyond.”
The legendary Highlife musician is confident in his financial stability, so he does not feel the need to chase after hit songs. He believes that a musician only needs one or two timeless songs to be successful.
“Now songs don’t last for more than five months…It’s a shame this is happening to us. But Ayitey is over 30 years old, and anytime I perform it, the young and old dance to it as though it is a fresh song. Young musicians should learn from us how to make timeless songs.”
Adane Best is willing to share his knowledge with young musicians, and he believes that the future of highlife music is bright.
“I think highlife music is still relevant..It’s just that we need to make it more appealing to the younger generation. We need to find a way to blend the old with the new.” He said
