Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party has scorned public ridicule, mainly emanating from the camp of the governing party, that he is desperate begging to be Ghana’s next president.

Critics have questioned why someone who wants to render a selfless service to the people would rather beg them in order to serve.

But addressing hundreds of residents at Nandom, Saturday, September 3, 2016, on the first day of his 2-day tour of the Upper West Region, Nana Akufo-Addo who is contesting as a presidential candidate for a third time said he is ready to beg to become Ghana’s president.

“I’m told I shouldn’t be begging the people of Ghana to be president. Oh really, why not? I am prepared to beg to the people of Ghana to become president if that is what is required to be done.”

He also responded to President John Dramani Mahama who asked Ghanaians to pay no attention to Akufo-Addo because the latter is asking the Ghanaian electorate to try him.

According to the NPP flagbearer, President Mahama has been a disaster, hence, the need for Ghanaians to vote for a change in the December 7 elections.

“They say that when you say try me, it means you are going to experiment, but the experience of the person there now has been a disastrous experience for our country. So what is the purpose of continuity?”

Nana Akufo-Addo quipped, “Are we going to continue the disaster? Is that what we want to do? We want to get rid of the disaster, and bring in a man with new ideas and a fresh direction for our nation.”
