Multiple award-winning Ghanaian actor cum musician, Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin has disclosed that former President H.E. John Dramani Mahama advised him to stay off politics.
Speaking on Oyerepa TV’s entertainment show ‘Cinifie’, the founder and CEO of Wizzy Empire clarified that his vision was to establish a school, and he did not want his brand to be attached to any political party.
“I don’t do politics, I am an asset to Ghana, I have love for everyone, both NPP and NDC among other parties belong to all of us, I vowed never to be influenced to enter into politics because I envisioned to establish a school and in Ghana, if you’re attached to a particular party, the other does not like you, I didn’t want one particular party’s kids coming to my school because I support them, my school is for all,” he said.
Lilwin, who’s set to launch his new TV series titled “Mr President”, revealed that he also got advice from former President John Mahama.
According to him, he said that H.E John Mahama has adviced him to never accept any form of payment in exchange for his support towards any political party.
“I had the opportunity to speak with NDC and NPP members during the 2016 campaign session. Ex-President John Mahama is the one who inspired me to forgo accepting any payment to support a political party. I’ve noticed that many celebrities are being paid to use for political campaigns, but I didn’t call you here because of the campaign, You are blessed to be young, and the future holds a lot for you,” he added.
The former President’s visit to the actor a couple of weeks ago raised eyebrows, however, Lilwin has clarified the purpose of the visit stating that the former president actually came to offer guidance.
“John Mahama did not come to me again for the campaign, He came to encourage me and advise me not to abandon the movie job. He said I am not an artist who depends on others for money and that I should continue, he even asked me to share copies of my new film, ‘Mr. President’ with the leaders of this country, including him,” he added.
