The Kalypṕo craze has caught on well

Some retailers of Kalypṕo at Kotokuraba in Cape Coast are calling on producers of the fruit drink to fast-track its supply to the metropolis so as to meet the high demand.

The craze for the fruit juice has been on the rise following a photo of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo sipping the juice going viral on social media.

During the manifesto launch of the NPP ahead of the December 7 polls, sellers of Kalypṕo recorded huge sales at the grounds in Accra.

The sale of Kalypṕo has not been different in Cape Coast in the Central Region as some shop keepers have requested for quick distribution in the metropolis.

According to them, the product has been a scarce commodity for almost two weeks now and request the company to create many distribution centres in the metropolis.

“For about two weeks now it has been scarce,” Miriam, a retailer related. “I went to check at Abura market but only one shop had it so they need to improve the supply here.”

“It’s only yesterday that Kalypṕo became heavily available since the last two weeks. Of late, within few days we don’t get it at Sonturk Supermarket, the main distributor,” another, Kofi Sunkwa, told 3news.com.

“The old also buy in numbers but as to whether they drink all of them alone, I cannot tell,” said Hawa Kuma.
