Ghana’s Kaya Adwoa Forson broke her personal record on Monday at the 2016 Olympic Games.
The freestyle swimmer clocked 2:16 seconds in her debut Olympics race.
Her time was, however, not enough to progress her into the next stage of the competition.
She raced with Fiji’s Matelita Buadromo and India’s Shivani Kataria who clocked 2:05 sec and 2:09sec to come 1st and 2nd respectively.
However, the 200m freestyle Heat 1 swimmers did not make it to the next round as their times were far below the qualifying mark.
The 14-year-old was the first Ghanaian to mount the stage at the Rio 2016 Games.
The country has 14 participants at the Games, which is the 31st edition.
