Kojo Bonsu brought curse on Asanteman – Chairman Wontumi claims

Wontumi-BonsuThe Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, says ex Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Kojo Bonsu, has brought curse on the Asanti Kindom.

He claimed Mr Bonsu, who resigned his position Tuesday, destroyed several ancestral monuments that were embodiment of the Asante  kingdom during his three-year reign in the regional capital.

The outspoken chairman specifically mentioned a ‘charmed’ metal machete belonging to the Asante legend, Okomfo Anokye, which was mounted in front of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

He was commenting on Mr Bonsu’s resignation on Onua FM’s morning show, Yen Sempa, on Wednesday. He said

Mr Bonsu supervised the removal of that monument in the name of development, noting that that ancestral piece represented the unity of the Asante Kingdom, thus killing that spirit.

Mr Boasiako claimed the Asante Kingdom is older than the Bible, adding that destruction of the monuments has eroded the unity and peace prevailed in the kingdom.

The NPP Chairman praised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his Council for their bold stance against Mr Bonsu which led to him resigning.

“We thank the Asante kingdom because God knows why he appointed them to be our chiefs. It is God who made it happened,” Mr Boasiako said.

Mr Kojo Bonsu announced his resignation Tuesday following his estranged relationship with the Asanteman Council. Mr Bonsu was said to have removed  the name of Otumfou’s representative on the board of the Kumasi Kejetia Construction project.
