The Old Tafo Traditional Authority in Kumasi is meeting the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) over the feeding fees for security personnel on peace-keeping duties in the community.
The Tafo Chiefs are demanding from the REGSEC reimbursement of GH¢26,000 which have been spent on feeding the security detail who were deployed to the community in February following brutal clashes in the community.
REGSEC has on the other hand rejected the demand on the grounds that it never agreed to such arrangement with the Traditional Council.
About 30 police and military personnel have been stationed at Kumasi Old Tafo to maintain order due to the disagreement over the erection of a cemetery fence erupted into violence.
One person died in the ensuing clashes and some property worth millions of Ghana cedis, including vehicles were destroyed.
At least, two police officers have been attending guarding duties at the Old Tafo Palace after the security team was withdrawn.
Speaking in an interview with Onua News, the Ashanti Regional Minister John Alexander Ackon, who is the head of REGSEC, confirmed that they are meeting the chiefs over the issue today.
He is hoping that REGSEC will get a better understanding of the issue after the meeting.
