Former President John Agyekum Kufuor will be one of the speakers lined up for this year’s Freedom Forum to take place for the first time in Ghana.
The Freedom Forum is an annual flagship programme of the International Young Democrat Union (IYDU) where issues relating to youth development and the sustenance and advancement of democracy are dispassionately discussed.
IYDU is a global alliance of centre-right political youth organisations united by a common desire for greater freedom and less government.
It has grown from 14 members to 127, from more than 81 different nations.
Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) will host this year’s forum from Wednesday, June 22 to Friday, June 24.
It will be themed: ‘The Right Leadership for the New Africa’.
Aside the former president, NPP’s three-time presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and his consistent running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will also speak at the forum.
Members of Parliament Dominic Nitiwul and Ursula Owusu-Ekuful will also address participants.
A statement issued by Vice Chairman of IYDU, Sammi Awuku, who is also National Youth Organiser of the NPP, said briefings and discussions will border around “the best policy approaches on issues of youth development and the advancement of our democracy”.
