Ghana international Adam Larsen Kwarasey has returned to Norway after just one season with the Major League soccer outfit Portland Timbers, the club has announced.

He has signed with Norway’s biggest club and record league winner Rosenborg BK. Timbers wished the 29-year old well and thanked him for his contribution in their title winning season but said the move makes sense for all parties involved.

“This transfer gives the Timbers flexibility to strengthen the team and is a move that makes sense for Adam, his family and the Timbers. We wish him all the best in his career”, Gavin Wilkinson, general manager and president of soccer for the Timbers said.

Kwarasey joined the MLS outfit in December 2014 Dec. 8, 2014 and made 40 regular-season league appearances over the 2015 and 2016 seasons with the Timbers, helping them win their first league title this year. However an injury sustained this in April has significantly reduced his first team appearances.

The club’s coach Caleb Porter was glowing in his praise for Kwarasey. “I want to thank Adam for his contributions to the club and for helping us win our first major trophy,” he said “I enjoyed working with him, and he was a top-class professional in his time here. We wish him nothing but the best with his new opportunity.”

The Norway- born player now returns to a league he is very farmiliar with having played for eight seasons with Strømsgodset of the Tippeligaen, winning a league championship with the club in 2013.
