Lancaster University Ghana will host West Africa’s maiden health conference next month at its A & C campus in East Legon, Accra.

The purpose of this conference is to bring together leading academics, policy makers, clinicians, practitioners and students from the UK and West Africa with the view to assessing current and future challenges for medical management in West Africa.

It also serves as a platform for students in Africa who are undertaking PhD programmes in LU and elsewhere to showcase and receive feedback on their work.

Some of the keynote speakers of this conference include Dr Gilbert Buckle, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Korlebu Teaching Hospital, Dr Jemima Dennis-Antwi, the Rector of the Ghana College of Nurses & Midwives, Professor Roger Pickup of Lancaster University, Dr Derek Gatherer and Dr Luigi Sedda, both lecturers at Lancaster University.

The scope of the conference includes challenges from the spread of infectious diseases to the management of health services in the region.

Interested speakers have also been invited to submit papers for consideration to be presented during the two-day conference.

Lancaster University Ghana is in the process of developing continuous professional development programmes in Health Leadership, Management and Public Health in Ghana so a health conference is the perfect platform to share its interest in Health and Medicine in West Africa.
