The National Organiser and campaign coordinator of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has denied accusations that the President is starting his campaign tour of the Western region because his keenest contender, Nana Akufo Addo of the NPP pulled a massive crowd when he toured the region, a tour that ended a few days ago.

Mr. Adams said the NDC already had its plans to start from the Western region, refuting allegations that the decision was a kneejerk reaction to Nana Akufo Addo’s success tour of the same region. Speaking to Accra based Citi Fm, Mr. Adams said “it’s about our campaign strategy… We take the region more seriously than Nana Addo and anybody else. We drew up these plans way before our campaign launch. We are not a being reactionary.”

He further indicated that “we’d continue to take the region much more seriously than any other political party ever has and we are putting them on the front burner.”

President John Dramani Mahama and the governing National Democratic Congress have kicked off their campaign for the 2016 elections from the Western region. This follows the launch of the party’s campaign on Sunday which was held at Cape Coast.

The Presidents itinerary for the Western regional campaign tour includes brief stops at Agona Nkwanta, and Abura, sit through the national fisheries grand durbar at Axim, head to Elubo through Aiyinase and end the first day with an interaction with the chiefs and people of Elubo.

That is for the first day.

On the second day which is Wednesday 17th, President Mahama would begin the day at Mpohor, interact with the Omanhene of the area and party supporters and from there head to Deboase through Ateiku.

He’d be paying a courtesy call on the Chief of Deboase and interact with the people of the area. He’d later inspect the Sea defense projects at Abuesi and Aboadze and later move to Sekondi to inspect the Bosomtwi Sam fishing harbor.

Day 2 would end with a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Essikadu.

President Mahama would begin the third day with a trip to the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel in Takoradi.

He’d address the first oil ceremony at the Takoradi Airport and from there meet and interact with the people of Kokompe also in Takoradi.

President Mahama would later in the day pay a courtesy call on the Sekondi Zongo Chiefs, call on the Sekondi Traditional Council, depart to the Sekondi Methodist park to address party supporters to end the days itinerary.

The fourth day which is Friday would see the president move to Dixcove to pay a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Lover and Upper Dixcove, head to Busua and head to the Ahanta where he is expected to greet the Ahanta Chief and interact with party supporters there as well.
